A Cubbie is an immersive multi-sensory space that helps people – adults and children – manage sensory stress and anxiety. Designed principally to help those with autism and neurodivergence, the Cubbie can in fact benefit anyone feeling stressed or anxious.
The self-contained, compact wheelchair-accessible units have been installed in schools, libraries, hospitals and other locations.
Each Cubbie draws on cloud-based software to deliver personalised programmes to Cubbie users, each of whom have their own unique profile. This means they can enter any Cubbie anywhere and receive their individualised programme. Programmes are overseen by occupational therapists and can change over time in line with users’ needs.
In this way, a Cubbie must be connected to operate, but the team also looks at data from the Cubbies to measure how they’re used and how effective they are. This analysis is integral to informed decision making and feeds into operational and strategic planning.
