GoodBox: contactless donations through IoT connectivity

Using an unsteered roaming SIM for resilient and secure connectivity, we helped GoodBox provide charities with a contactless solution to receive donations in a cashless society.

About GoodBox

GoodBox have been supporting charities since 2016 when it became apparent that a cashless society was having a negative impact in this sector. GoodBox are dedicated to providing charities with innovative technology solutions to enable them to accept donations in a World where the majority of people use contactless solutions rather than cash.

Challenge

Charities rely on donations taken through a wide variety of mechanisms, including cash and digital, however as contactless methods have become much more popular in every day life, the reduction in people carrying cash has resulted in a decline in income from the public. This coupled with the recent COVID-19 pandemic means it has never been more important for charities to protect their donation income by embracing innovative technology solutions.

GoodBox developed a range of payment devices that could be used to take contactless payments, but needed an unsteered roaming SIM for a reliable and secure connection. This removed the need to embed a different network SIM into individual devices, dependent on where they were based, saving time and mitigating risk of poor network connectivity.

As these devices are shipped globally and regularly moved around to different locations, GoodBox wanted a solution that was simple to install without the complications of knowing which network to use in each location.

Solution

To address these issues, GoodBox chose to work with Wireless Logic as we were able to provide a reliable SIM solution and comprehensive SIM management platform, SIMPro, for tracking and monitoring SIMs. GoodBox needed a solution that was flexible, easy to deploy but also have secure visibility of their estate of SIMs. Furthermore, Wireless Logic were able to create a tailor-made commercial model to fit the GoodBox business model ensuring that their service operates as efficiently as possible.

To ensure data security, Wireless Logic provided NetPro, our private network overlay to enable real time visibility of data usage across multiple Mobile Network operators mitigating the risk of receiving an unexpected bill.

Outcome

GoodBox can now offer their cashless solutions to support charities in multiple territories due to the solution being simple to deploy. GoodBox are continuing to develop engaging products to support the charity sector and are looking at incorporating technologies that will be more video-centric, therefore needing higher levels of data. Working with Wireless Logic, they’re able to provide resilient and fast cellular connectivity to provide a seamless donation, keeping the data secure for charities and their donors.

Being able to rely on Wireless Logic as their connectivity provider, GoodBox have been able to grow their business in a short space of time and continue to scale and create innovative solutions to help this vital sector

GoodBox prides itself on working with strong, strategic partners to help deliver an exceptional service to our customers. When selecting a connectivity provider we recognised that we needed a partner who would also understand our business and be able to support us as we scale. Wireless Logic worked with us to develop and deploy a solution that provides us with the best available connection regardless of where our devices are located as well as full visibility of our estate through SIMPro which means that we have minimal operational input. The flexibility to build a commercial model to suit our business along with a willingness to ensure that we are successful has been hugely valuable as we continue to expand.
