Screenery's DOOH Solutions Revolutionise Mobile Advertising in Germany

Wireless Logic provides connectivity to Screenery as they innovate DOOH. 500+ vehicles with programmatic screens are transformed into mobile ads in five major German cities.

About Screenery

Screenery develops innovative DOOH (digital-out-of-home) solutions. They transform car-sharing vehicle fleets into mobile advertising spaces. They blend seamlessly into their surroundings and are only visible when they are needed.

Screenery projects digital content, such as advertising, stories from daily news programmes, disaster warnings or city information, onto the windows of urban vehicle fleets in a targeted manner when they are parked. In cooperation with the car sharing provider ShareNow, more than 500 vehicles in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne and Düsseldorf are already on the road with the screens. The content is aimed directly at passers-by on the busy pavements of city centres. The impressive sharpness and brilliance of the screens marketed under the name DOOVOLUTION guarantee a high level of attention.

If the vehicles are in motion, the broadcasting of the content is interrupted and the side screen is switched to transparent. Road safety is not jeopardised at any time – neither for the driver nor for other road users.

Challenge

IoT DOOH 2

This solution for DOOH advertising must always be controllable via a digital signage player over the mobile network, as advertising content must be targeted, programmatic and visible in real time.

“For example, one of our customers advertised products as an exclusive partner of HSV” explains Sammy Schumacher, CFO of Screenery. “However, the requirement was that the advert must not be shown in the St. Pauli district. In addition to territorial geofencing via GPS, the system is also suitable for advertising events, catering or time-limited offers, for example, depending on the time of day. This required a location-independent, uninterrupted and secure online connection.”

Solution

Screenery uses 1GB Conexa SIMs with data pooling. With eUICC technology, the data connection can be maintained remotely without ever having to change SIMs. This means that changing the data transmission technology or even the mobile network operator can be done without physical intervention. At the same time, the system remains easily scalable. With Conexa, the digital signage players can only ever be equipped with a single SIM card, but can also be used with a large number of mobile network operators. In Europe alone, Conexa offers access to 98 leading network operators in 37 countries.

Data pooling is particularly interesting for SIMs with varying data consumption. The inclusive data volume of an individual SIM is not only available to this one SIM, but to all SIMs in the shared data pool. This means that within a pool, SIMs with higher data consumption can access the data volume of other SIMs with lower consumption.
