What it means to us, to be positioned as a Magic Quadrant Leader

For the second consecutive year, Wireless Logic is named a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide.

Iain Davidson, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Wireless Logic comments on the company’s position in the 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant and reflects on the strengths and cautions shared by Gartner.

We are hugely proud to be recognised as a Leader once more. And I believe it is also an acknowledgment of our IoT connectivity offering, supporting our customers to make the right technology and hardware choices through our consultative approach.

As a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), we are network operator agnostic and 100% focused on the IoT. We have partnerships with 50+ MNOs and around 85% of our connections use two or more of those MNOs. One of our roles here is to aggregate those services and provide a single consistent interface which enable our customers to roll out secure, global IoT deployments without having the challenges of sourcing from multiple MNOs, navigating through roaming restrictions, coverage or regulations.

Over the past year or so, we have grown significantly as a business. At the back end of 2022, we surpassed the 10 million IoT subscriptions threshold (3 million of which were eSIM). These subscriptions span 165 countries and naturally the majority are in Europe, however our fastest growing regions are Asia-Pacific (including a significant number in China), Americas and Africa.

As technology has evolved, we’ve ensured that our capability is aligned to customer and market needs and as a result we have a high proportion of NB-IoT and 5G connections within our customer base. Our expertise in these areas is greatly beneficial to multi-national corporations who often struggle to consume those network technologies that have been rolled out by MNOs.

Flexibility and ease-of-use in our solution offering have been essential qualities in our continued expansion. Some of our largest and most compelling recent customer wins have been with global OEMs or multi-national corporations. For example, US based organisations with both domestic US connectivity and Rest of World requirements. We can address both really well. It’s a fact, global deployments are complex. Companies often have to manage a raft of MNO relationships, varying regulation and certification challenges and connectivity needs which vary (location, coverage, ownership, data allowance) as devices move through the supply chain.  We address this with our Global Deploy proposition. Global Deploy combines on-SIM technology (multi-IMSI, eSIM, iSIM) with remote SIM provisioning and Conexa, our built for IoT, mobile core network which provides quality, stability, security and real-time controls. I have already mentioned an increase in eSIM deployments, which support businesses move towards embedded connectivity with a “setup and forget” approach. By “forget” we mean device connectivity is future proof and can be adapted over time if required using remote SIM provisioning and core network automation.

I believe central to this recognition is industry knowledge and expertise, supporting companies through change such as network sunsetting, and helping them innovate in emerging and developing markets, such as electric vehicles and energy systems that meet the demands of today and prepare for the demands of the future whilst adhering to new data security legislations.

Security and Reliability at the heart

Markets, technologies and regulations evolve, so expert insight is more important than ever to help companies navigate the range of network standards and hardware choices that are available. Cyber-Security is one of the top concerns of OEMs and of buyers of connected devices alike. Selecting a partner with a proven reputation has always been key and with over 20 years’ experience in helping our customers design, deploy and managed their IoT applications, Wireless Logic is right up there. Our Cloud Secure proposition is a suite of capabilities which help customers defend, detect and react to cyber threats and ultimately minimise the impact should any breaches occur.

Where to find further information

As a leading full-service IoT connectivity platform provider, Wireless Logic will continue to support customers in designing, deploying and managing IoT installations locally, nationally and internationally.

As companies grow their installed IoT base in 2023, or embark on IoT solutions for the first time, adopting a ‘network of networks’ approach can help alleviate the complexity and the overhead of managing SIMs across different networks, regulatory and commercial landscapes globally.
